Project Phoenix is a new meat processing facility for Thomas Foods International, situated in Murray Bridge, after a fire destroyed the previous facility in 2018. This state-of-the-art facility contains animal processing and handling facilities, a beef boning room, stockyards, and employee amenities and administration facilities. In addition, the building contains chilling, freezing and storage systems, along with energy efficient electrical, refrigeration and boiler systems. This project offers an opportunity for Thomas Foods to return stronger than they were prior to the destruction of the previous facility. Industry benchmarks were set across the facility, in areas such as efficiency, environmental sustainability, animal welfare and workplace safety.
Resonate involvement
Resonate provided acoustic design of partitions and mechanical systems to ensure safe and appropriate noise levels were achieved across the facility. In addition to safety this was important to maintain intended use of all spaces. This was done without compromising layout and usability of all the interlocking spaces to ensure flow and efficiency in use. Resonate also undertook the Thomas Foods access road traffic noise assessment for the Department of Infrastructure and Transport, which included the design of noise treatment as well as project management of the building contractor to install the treatment for eligible properties.
Project outcome
A state-of-the-art food processing facility with many supporting rooms and spaces such as offices, prayer rooms and lunch rooms, which could be comfortably used during operation of the entire facility.
