Project Description

Proposed gas-fired power station near Mallala, with six turbines supplying up to 300MW of power at peak load times.

Client Needs

Arcadis and Alinta Energy required a robust assessment of noise emissions from the proposed power station to support the DA process, and to help residents in the surrounding area understand the potential noise impacts.

Resonate’s involvement

Resonate delivered the noise assessment within a tight program and attended community events to respond to questions and concerns from residents.

Outcome

Resonate quickly responded to requests from the client and community, including a change in site layout and queries regarding the effect of noise on horses. Interstate staff were also mobilised at short notice to obtain noise source measurements of a similar turbine in Victoria, providing additional certainty to the predicted noise levels. Resonate’s approach and timely advice allowed the project to proceed according to program, with minimal hassle.

Innovation

Resonate undertook a sensitivity analysis of turbine locations, allowing the client flexibility to develop the site layout without requiring noise emissions from each iteration to be re-assessed in detail.
