Local Government Training – Nuisance and Litter Act
Key team members
Training for local government staff on their new responsibilities under the Environmental Protection (Noise) Policy 2007, Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016 and general noise measurement and interpretations.
A new act was enacted in 2016 which transferred responsibilities to councils from the Environmental Protection Authority to assess the impact of various noise sources on receptors. This was a new power for the council and staff were required to understand how noise works, what to look for, how to measure it, how to apply the Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016, how to assess and how to apply the Environmental Protection (Noise) Policy 2007.
Resonate presented in conjunction with Kelledy Jones Lawyers on the newly enacted Local Nuisance and Litter Act 2016 and provided training to various local councils regarding the application of the Act in relation to noise and how to review, assess and determine impact of noise nuisances.
Councils were empowered to have more confidence in dealing with noise issues and a better grounding in the new Act.
